Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Bible Memo app and this website. They are written to be read, not skimmed. If anything is unclear, contact us before you rely on it.
Last updated and effective: October 10, 2026
At a glance
- Bible Memo is free, needs no account, and is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use.
- Scripture texts belong to their respective rights holders and are provided under their licences. The King James Version is in the public domain.
- Your notes, journal entries, and practice history are yours. They live only on your device, so you are responsible for backing them up.
- The app may update its own code when it opens, and features or Bible versions may change over time.
- The app and website are provided as they are. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
The agreement
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Bible Memo ("we", "us"), the publisher of the Bible Memo app for iOS and Android and of this website (together, "Bible Memo"). By downloading, installing, or using Bible Memo you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Bible Memo. The terms of the store you downloaded the app from, such as Apple's Media Services Terms or the Google Play Terms of Service, also apply to your use of that store.
Who may use Bible Memo
Anyone may read with Bible Memo. If you are younger than the age at which you can agree to terms like these where you live, for example 13 in the United States or 16 in parts of the European Union, a parent or guardian must agree to them on your behalf and supervise your use. There is no account to create, so there is no registration step.
Your licence to use the app
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, obtained through the official app stores, for your personal and non-commercial study. The app's code, design, artwork, illustrations, name, and logo belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark laws.
Except where the law gives you a right we cannot exclude, you agree not to:
- Copy, modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works from the app or website.
- Sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense, distribute, or make the app available to others.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, or attempt to extract its source code.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or licence notice.
- Use the app's content delivery service to build another product or to download Bible packages in bulk by automated means.
Scripture texts and other content
The King James Version is in the public domain. Other Bible versions available in the app are copyrighted works of their respective publishers and rights holders, who retain all rights. They are provided to you under licences that permit their distribution through Bible Memo. The copyright and licence notice for each version is shown in the app's version catalog, and a version may be added, changed, or withdrawn if its licence changes.
You may read, save, memorize, and copy passages for personal study, worship, and teaching, and you may share short passages with attribution in the way each rights holder's licence allows. You may not extract, redistribute, republish, or sell version packages or substantial portions of a copyrighted version. Scripture texts are reproduced from their sources as faithfully as we can and may still contain typographical errors; no Bible publisher endorses Bible Memo.
Your content
Notes, prayers, journal entries, saved passages, tags, and practice history that you create are yours. They are stored only on your device; we do not receive, access, back up, or moderate them, and we claim no rights in them. You are responsible for keeping a backup, for example through your device's own backup service, and for what you write. If you lose your device, delete the app, or clear its data, that content is gone, and we cannot recover it.
Acceptable use
When you use Bible Memo you agree not to:
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the content delivery or update services.
- Circumvent technical protections such as package checksums or signed updates.
- Use the app or its content in any way that breaks a law that applies to you.
- Suggest that you, your organisation, or your product is affiliated with or endorsed by Bible Memo without our written permission.
We may restrict access to our content delivery service from sources that abuse it.
Updates and changes to Bible Memo
When the app opens it may download and apply small updates to its own code so that fixes reach you without waiting for a store release. Larger updates are delivered through the App Store or Google Play. We may add, change, or remove features, Bible versions, or parts of this website at any time, and we may discontinue the app with reasonable notice where that is practical. Bible versions you have downloaded and the content you have created remain on your device.
Reminders, widgets, and voice features
Reminders and practice invitations are scheduled on your device and depend on the permissions and notification, battery, and focus settings you choose; delivery is not guaranteed. Home and lock screen widgets depend on your operating system. Voice recall needs on-device speech recognition and the languages your device supports; typed recall is always available.
Disclaimers
Bible Memo is a study aid. It offers no pastoral, theological, medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and nothing in it should be relied on as such. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app, the website, and their content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, for loss of data such as notes or practice history, or for any loss arising from your inability to use Bible Memo. Because the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or from Bible Memo is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us, which is nothing, and the smallest amount the applicable law allows us to agree to.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Nigeria, South Africa, or any other place with mandatory consumer protection laws, those laws apply to you and these terms do not take them away.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for your own use of Bible Memo and for any loss we suffer that is directly caused by your breach of these terms, for example by redistributing a licensed Bible version in a way that exposes us to a claim from its rights holder.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using Bible Memo at any time by uninstalling the app. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms. The sections on Scripture texts, your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, your responsibility, and governing law continue to apply after the agreement ends.
Terms required by the app stores
If you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and us, not Apple; that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; that Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and consumer protection claims; that Apple is not responsible for any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights; and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
If you obtained the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply, and Google is not a party to these terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the publisher is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country where its law gives you that right.
Before starting any formal dispute, please contact us using the details below. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top, and material changes are noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Bible Memo after a change means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
